Teatulohi Matainaho, President
Pacific Academy of Sciences, Samoa

Professor Teatulohi Matainaho is President of the Pacific Academy of Science and Vice Chancellor of the Pacific Adventist University in Papua New Guinea (PNG). He formerly served as chairman of the PNG Science and Technology Council and chief science advisor to the government of PNG. Professor Matainaho has a PhD in pharmacology from the University of Queensland. His research interest has been primarily focused on natural products drugs discovery as the basis for finding biological therapeutics to treat human diseases (especially malaria, TB, HIV/ AIDS and cancer), and thereby support economic evaluation and conservation of PNG’s biodiversity.
